You can take the hard way over the mountain or the easy way through the tunnel, your call.

 

Judges comments:

Alisha's entry is a good example of the detailed thought that goes into many entries - the road of life splits into two, one labelled the 'easy way' and the other the 'hard way'. The bright colours and text that reinforced the message of choice really stand out.

Judges comments:

This entry effectively uses scale to convey the idea of being isolated or picked on. Fine details like the lightning pattern on the sleeve are a clever way to personify some of the characteristics of bullying.

Not staying in your shell, coming out and talking about it .

 

Judges comments:

The choice of a turtle is an inspired one in this colourful and perceptive design that encourages everyone to share how they are really feeling. Bianca's delicate shading and excellent drawing makes the turtle an appealing character.

Telling people not to hide your problems but to tell Kidsline about it.

 

Judges comments:

The judges liked the way this entrance took a strong, positive message and based a striking image around it. The grey of the safe and problems is well contrasted with bright colours.

Everybody should share their worries with Kidsline, just like this brave girl. .

 

Judges comments:

This drawing in this entry was among the most sophisticated and contemporary in any age category. Bright colours and dark lines create a graphic effect while portraying a very real looking caller and Kidsline Buddy.

A problem shared is a problem heard. Being together, helping another, you don't need to be alone and it helps to share your problems and it helps to talk.

 

Judges comments:

Ella's entry shows a sophisticated appreciation of branding, with a poster that emphasises a feeling rather than the Kidsline service itself. The positivity in the drafting,   drawing and colouring of this entry achieves the artists aims.

These kids who are stuck in glue, like it can be in life when you are stuck with a problem.

 

Judges comments:

Georgia's entry uses a clever metaphor of 'being stuck' to convey a feeling common for many Kidsline callers. The clear cartoon characters and bright colours are effective at catching the viewer's attention.

This girls life is turned upside down and so she rang Kidsline to help with her life and its normal again.

 

Judges comments:

This entry uses a vibrant colour scheme and lots of little details to keep the viewer's interest. The judges especially liked   the drawing of the main character in this entry - a believeable and likeable kid.

Even ifyou are in a hole Kidsline is there for you.

 

Judges comments:

Many entries picked up on the idea of a helping hand but this one was especially colourful, clever and unique. The characters look fun and the icey winter look uses Kidsline's blue colour in an unforced way.

Judges comments:

Jaqueline's winning entry uses a bright colour scheme and a strong sense of perspective to draw attention to the two main characters – one the friendly face of the Kidsline Buddy.

To talk to someone about how you feel and don't keep them stuck inside you.

 

Judges comments:

A simple idea is conveyed clearly with a bright colouring scheme and block lettering. A mix of descriptive words brings to life a range of feelings that kids calling Kidsline might have.

Judges comments:

Jayden's entry shows a sophisticated understanding of poster design techniques, with bold black lines, a great 3D phone and impressive globe all moving in space. A mix of patterns, block colouring and text is used effectively.

Judges comments:

Two clear and striking characters caught the eye of the judges in this brightly coloured entry. The artist has used a conversation to simply and effectively remind kids that "it helps to talk".

Parents breaking up, feeling confused .

 

Judges comments:

While illustrating a specific instance,this artist has used symbols like a broken heart to create an entry that is relatable by almost everyone. The use of language and the layering of the girl in the foreground is well handled.

Stop bullying! Kids need a good start tolife and we must respect each other.

 

Judges comments:

Strong influences of comic book and animation are evident in Matt's striking entry. The effective use of detailed drawing and a lots of visual flair result in a powerful poster design.

Judges comments:

This entry illustrates an important message with just two main figures who the judges felt looked like 'real kids'. Clear black ink outlines and bright colours helped Millie's entry stand out.

Judges comments:

Among many entries that show children 'stuck' in some way, Nada's entry stood out as an especially powerful image. The contrast between the colourful surroundings and the dark hole effectively draws the viewer's focus.

One of the most moving finalists, this artist effectively uses the scale of the entire page to convey a believeableand poignant moment. This design manages to bridge the gap between a wonderful, heartfelt drawing and a powerful poster.

A real favourite with the Kidsline Buddies, this entry shows off the full range of skills used in the field of comic book art and film making. Using text, colour and perspective effectively, the poster tells a full story.

Judges comments:

Shimona's entry uses several metaphors to portray a child experiencing parental separation. The detail throughout the poster and in the faces of the characters shows real drawing skill.

Judges comments:

This entry caught the attention of the judges and Kidsline Buddies immediately. Not only in the idea of the shield creative and appealing, the use of layering, drawing and shading gives it a 3D quality.
