2009 Kidsline Poster Competition

Terms & Conditions


How to enter

1) Entry into this competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.

2) The competition is known as the 2009 Kidsline Poster Competition. The Promoter is Kidsline at PO Box 74010, Market Road, Auckland. Phone:- 09 909 8750.

3) The competition is open to pupils of New Zealand schools aged 14 years or under. There will be two age categories of entrants, these are:

- Category 1: Entrants aged 10 years or younger
- Category 2: Entrants aged between 11 and 14 years

4) Only one (1) entry per pupil will be accepted.

5) The immediate family of Kidsline employees and any of its associated companies or organisations are not eligible to win prizes in the competition.

6) Each entry must be the original work of the entrant(s) and the entrant(s) warrants that he/she is the original creator of the work entered.

7) The competition commences on Monday 27th April 2009 and closes on Friday 3rd July 2009. Entries must be received at Kidsline by 5pm, Friday 3rd July 2009. Entries will be judged between Wednesday 15th and Monday 20th July..

9) No responsibility is taken for late, lost, misdirected or incomplete entries.

10) All entries become the property of Kidsline both physically and in terms of all intellectual property and copyrights. Kidsline can utilise or amend entries in any manner they deem fit.

11) Only entries on the official 2009 Kidsline Poster Competition entry form shall be accepted.

12) The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries/claims and to disqualify any entrant/claimant who tampers with the entry/claiming process or who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these Conditions of Entry.
 


Judging

13) All entries will be initially viewed by staff of Kidsline or their representatives and a selection of 300 top entries will be made based on the following criteria:

a) Would the poster attract the attention and convey an appropriate message to children 14 years and younger?

b) Is the poster free of unnecessary detail/clutter?

c) Is the meaning of images/script used visible from a distance of three feet?

d) Is the overall design and style appropriate for promotion of Kidsline?

e) Would it be possible to reproduce the poster in large quantities for distribution?

f) Is the content clear and easy to understand?

Are the issues/information included relevant to Kidsline?
Do the images/text clearly convey the intended message?

14) The top 300 entries in each category will then be scored by a panel of judges made up of staff or representatives of Kidsline based on the criteria above.

15) The decision of the judges will be final and absolute. No correspondence about the decision will be entered into.

16) The winners will be notified by email, phone call or letter to the winners’ school within 4 weeks after judging.


Winners

17) There are two categories of winners:

a) Category 1: Entrants aged up to 10 years
b) Category 2: Entrants aged between 11 and 14 years

18) Winners selected by the judging panel will be the Category 1 and Category 2 winners comprising of:

- One overall winner for each category
- One highly commended in each category
- 25 commended in each category

 


Prizes

19) Prizes for the overall winner in Category 1 as determined by the judging panel, will comprise an ASG Education Scholarship valued at up to $12,853 (see condition 20 below), a Nintendo DSi, a Nestlé winner’s pack, a copy of the winning poster and a framed winner’s certificate of congratulation.

Prizes for the overall winner in Category 2 as determined by the judging panel, will comprise an ASG educational multimedia pack valued at up to $3,000 comprising of an HP Pavilion Notebook computer, MS Office Home & Student 2007 software, a computer bag, an HP printer and $1,000 of vouchers; a Nintendo DSi, a Nestlé winner’s pack, a copy of the winning poster and a framed winner’s certificate of congratulation.

Prizes for the highly commended in each category will comprise of an iPod Nano (8GB), a Nestlé pack and a highly commended certificate of congratulation.

Prizes for each of the 50 commended winners (25 from each category) comprise an iPod Shuffle (1GB) a Nestlé pack and a certificate of congratulation.

20) Conditions for the ASG Education Scholarship Prize for the Category 1 Winner:

a) The legal guardian will nominate one of their children as the recipient of the scholarship.  The nominated child will be enrolled into the ASG The Education Fund (TEF) Plan B program (‘Education Scholarship’).  Total value of the Education Scholarship is up to $12,853 based on child’s age at entry, ASG projections and level of study undertaken. This amount will be paid subject to the nominated child’s admission to and the commencement of year 12 and 13 of secondary school and an approved post-secondary course. Maturity and payment details of the Education Scholarship are subject to the standard terms and conditions contained in the Investment Statement, which is available from the Society’s registered office or any ASG Information Centre.

b) ASG accepts no responsibility for any variation in the prize/entitlement value.  Prize, entitlements or any unused portion thereof is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as a cash lump sum.

c) ASG accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings. Independent financial advice should be sought.

21) In the event that a specific prize is unavailable, Kidsline reserves the right to award a substitute prize of the same or equivalent value at its absolute discretion.

22) Prizes will be delivered to the winners’ schools or home addresses or presented at a prize giving at Kidsline’s offices in Auckland on August 11th 2009 (as appropriate and as agreed at time of notification of win by Kidsline). All expenses incurred in using any prize, other than those specified in the prize details, are the sole responsibility of the winners.

23) Kidsline and their associated organisations will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to any indirect or consequential loss) suffered or incurred in connection with participation in the competition or redeeming the prizes, except as may be required by law.

24) If Kidsline is unable to contact the overall winners, highly commended or commended prize winners by e-mail, mail or phone or via their school within four (4) weeks from the date of selection; or if the overall winners, highly commended or commended prize winners are unable to redeem their prize in accordance with these terms and conditions, that individual will forfeit the rights to their prize and Kidsline may select a new winner in that category. The new winner will be determined by the judges.

25) Prizes are not transferable, negotiable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash or alternative prizes


Personal information

26) All entrants consent to the use of their names, characters, photographs and posters for promotional or publicity purposes in connection with this competition and for future promotion and marketing purposes without additional compensation. The winners must be available upon request for any promotional or publicity purposes.

27) Kidsline collects entrants’ personal information in order to conduct the promotion. If the information requested is not provided, the entrant will not be eligible for prizes in the promotion.

28) Information about entrants will be held by Kidsline and will be shared with ASG for information purposes. All individuals have a right to access any of their own personal information held by Kidsline and to request correction of that information. This should be requested in writing by contacting Kidsline at the address stated in condition 8 above.


Other matters

29) Kidsline reserves the right to amend any or all terms and conditions.

30) These terms and conditions are governed by New Zealand law and any dispute arising out of them or in connection with the prize will be governed by New Zealand law.
